The Inn at Penallt is a 17th Century traditional country Inn built on a hill of quartz located in the Wye Valley with spectacular views of the Forest of Dean.
The Inn has been branded by visitors as a ‘little paradise’. We are blessed with countryside tranquillity, little to no light pollution and an abundance of wildlife. There are fantastic walks both challenging and non-challenging, together with access to various outdoor pursuits such as canoeing on the river Wye, fishing, cycling in the Forest of Dean and horse riding. The Wye Valley is an outdoor enthusiasts dream.
At the Inn, we pride ourselves on providing a relaxed and friendly dining experience, with hearty food made from the freshest of ingredients, which we tailor to all dietary needs. 95% of our fresh ingredients are sourced locally from farmers and artisan producers and even include, edible flowers from Bekka at Humble by Nature and Wye Valley honey.
We have fantastic wine suppliers who are always in search of fine wines from undiscovered growers worldwide and together with a comprehensive gin menu, with some of the finest botanical blends from Wales, we always try to provide our customer with a new experience. On tap, we have ales & ciders with a strong Welsh heritage.
We support various charitable organisations including Art In Penallt who exhibit artwork by local artists at the Inn, Myddfai who provide us with luxury toiletries for our rooms and bathrooms and Gwent Wildlife Trust who are our neighbours. There is direct access from the Inn to the Trusts’ summer wild flower meadows.
If you are looking to escape the pace of city life, to fill your lungs with fresh country air and let the scenery overwhelm your senses, or just sit by a wood fire and read a book, then The Inn at Penallt will be ready to greet you.
