In recognition of the high quality of food served in the bar and restaurant, the AA Rosette Award 2012 for culinary excellence has been awarded to The Inn at Penallt. This prestigious award is only given where food is prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality ingredients. Owners Jackie and Andrew Murphy, and head chef Peter, are delighted that their shared passion for providing top quality restaurant and bar food using carefully selected and sustainable local produce has received this recognition.
Bed and Breakfast
B&B accommodation is available all year round at the Inn. The four en-suite rooms are quite small and each are tastefully decorated. All rooms have TV and DVD player, an ipod docking station, free Wi Fi internet access, iron and ironing board and fresh Fair Trade ground coffee and tea making facilities.
Food in the restaurant and bar
Guests can enjoy a full Welsh breakfast served in the restaurant. Delicious freshly made bar snacks and restaurant meals are available during the day and evening. Please see opening times for details. Packed lunches for walkers and cyclists can be provided on request, and with sufficient notice our chef is happy to cater for special diets.
Mid Week & Weekend Breaks

Dogs are welcome to stay
Jackie and Andrew warmly welcome dogs and their well behaved owners in the bar. The Inn has a large garden (the size of a small field) to exercise your dog.
The Inn at Penallt is located near to the Welsh border town of Monmouth and is in the beautiful Wye Valley. the Inn is a traditional village pub offering bed and breakfast and has an excellent reputation for superb food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
The Village of Penallt is located between Monmouth and Chepstow and is close to Offa's Dyke Path Walk, the Wye Valley Walk and the Three Castles Walk. The Inn makes an ideal holiday base for short breaks for walkers, amateur photographers, artists and cyclists who are keen to explore the southern section of the Wye Valley. There are many places of natural and historic interest within walking distance of the Inn and we recommend you visit the Local Attractions page of our website to find out more about what's on offer in the Wye Valley area.
